Each week, executive producer Betsy Beers goes behind the scenes of Grey’s Anatomy, Scandal, and How to Get Away with Murder in her podcast, Shondaland Revealed — and each week, EW will have an exclusive first listen of the latest episode.

This week, Beers catches up with Mireille Enos, star of the new TGIT series The Catch, to discuss the year-long journey from shooting the pilot to its Thursday night premiere. Enos also details working with prankster Peter Krause, spills her favorite scene in the pilot, and shares a lot of behind-the-scenes tidbits.

Somewhere, a forensic-accounting fraud specialist who spent time illuminating the actress Mireille Enos about the tools of his arcane trade is going to turn on the new ABC series “The Catch” when the first episode airs on Thursday, March 24, and get something of a shock.

Ms. Enos is no longer playing Alice Vaughan, a Chicago-based crime-solving auditor with a sketchy past — her character in the original pilot — but a different Alice Vaughan, now Los Angeles’s most elite private investigator. “He said there’s a forensic accountant club, and they were all so excited to be represented,” Ms. Enos said earnestly. “I hope they’re not too sad.”

Do you want to play? That’s the catchphrase for “The Catch,” the Shonda Rhimes-produced thriller-drama that’s taking over “How to Get Away with Murder’s” time slot for the rest of the season.

Mireille Enos of “The Killing” fame gets to glam it up here. Instead of the bulky sweaters and jeans she wore on her gritty old show, she now wears some slinky dresses as a partner in a top private security firm in Los Angeles.

The opening of the series finds her character, Alice Vaughan, flirting with dapper fellow at a posh art opening. He uses the distraction to steal her key card, though, and within minutes is making off with a valuable painting. In what is no surprise, we soon see that he is the one who has been had, and Alice — sweet looking but a tough cookie — has knocked him down and is handing him over to the police.

It’s time to meet ShondaLand’s latest attraction The Catch, the sexy new cat-and-mouse caper starring The Killing’s Mireille Enos like you’ve never seen her before: smiling.
Enos is ditching the rain and outdated cell phone for a chic blowout and an even chicer wardrobe in ABC’s new addition to the TGIT line-up, which will take over How To Get Away With Murder’s 10 p.m. time-slot on Thursday, March 24. And judging from the exclusive cast photo E! News is sharing with you above, it’s easy to see why The Catch will fit right in with Scandal and Grey’s Anatomy.
While the drama (which reminded us of classic films like Charade and How to Steal a Million) centers on the emotional and professional fallout for Alice (Enos), a top-notch P.I. who hunts down criminals and cons for a living, after her fiancée (Peter Krause) ends up taking her for everything she has, The Catch is very much an ensemble, with Scandal writer Allan Heinberg serving as showrunner.

Following a mid-season start that saw CTV deliver two of the Top 3 most-watched new series premieres of the year, CTV announced today key dates for its February and March schedule, including the debut of Shonda Rhimes’ next break-out series THE CATCH. CTV also announced today the acquisition of two new series for its mid-season schedule; the new mystery series THE FAMILY starring Oscar nominee Joan Allen (Room), and CRIMINAL MINDS spin-off CRIMINAL MINDS: BEYOND BORDERS starring Gary Sinise (CSI:NY).

“Building upon our strong fall, the January premieres of THE X-FILES, LUCIFER, and LEGENDS OF TOMORROW have kick-started a mid-season schedule that gains momentum with the addition of these new series,” said Mike Cosentino, Senior Vice-President, Programming, CTV Networks and CraveTV. “THE CATCH will seamlessly take over on Thursday nights from HOW TO GET AWAY WITH MURDER, while THE FAMILY and CRIMINAL MINDS: BEYOND BORDERS will add additional depth to our Sunday and Wednesday night lineups.”

It was an out-of-this-world start to 2016 for CTV in January, with final data from Numeris confirming that THE X-FILES two-night debut (Jan. 24/25) was watched by an average audience of 2.9 million viewers, cementing its claim as the most-watched premiere on Canadian television this season. Meanwhile, LUCIFER brought the heat with final data confirming that an average 2.3 million viewers watched the series premiere on Jan. 25, making it the third most-watched series premiere of the season, behind THE X-FILES and QUANTICO. Also, final data confirms the series premiere of LEGENDS OF TOMORROW (Jan. 21) is #3 among new series debuts this season for A25-54. All three series bolster CTV’s next wave of stellar mid-season premieres.
